Using your ONE X with Matterport allows you to create immersive 3D walkthroughs of homes and other physical spaces, create teaser videos of the space, export 360-degree snapshots for social media, and more. Cortex is trained using Matterport’s database comprising billions of 3D data points, so it can understand rooms and the detailed characteristics of a space.
It sits on the bottom of your phone, which you turn upside down, turning an iOS or Android device into an instant 360 camera. A sleek, compact 4K Ultra HD camera, with 24 megapixels to take stunning photos alongside amazing videos. While the ONE X captures 360 images at the tap of a button and auto-adjusts to meet the environment, Matterport’s machine learning algorithm “Cortex” transforms these images into 3D models and 3D virtual tour experiences. All in One Insta360 have combined the best of modern cameras, technology and 360-degree video and photography into one, the Insta360 One.
What used to be a solution reserved for premier listings – due to the high cost of professional-grade solutions – is now accessible by realtors at all levels, with no photography, videography or editing experience required. This new integration allows realtors at all levels to create 3D virtual tours for all sorts of spaces. Once done, your 3D virtual tour will be shareable via a unique link for easy viewing. The ONE X and Matterport’s cloud platform work hand-in-hand to deliver a seamless experience that makes virtual tour production easier than ever.Īfter connecting to your ONE X, you can now control and capture physical spaces using the Matterport app, upload content to Matterport’s cloud platform, edit and view your 3D model and publish a virtual tour in no time.
Until then however, the Insta360 Evo is a good recommendation to quite literally see the world from another point of view. After announcing a partnership with top virtual tour software “Matterport” back in January, the Insta360 ONE X has since fully integrated. The One X2 is smaller but taller and has a single-round display at its front. They are either a bit thicker or thinner than the One X2, which means that the stitching will be more obvious than the thinner One X2 and the original One X. It’s not hard to see this kind of tech becoming more compact in the future, or even making its way over to smartphones in a couple of years. The One R’s design as a 360 camera is our main concern. Note: UHS-II and UHS-III Micro SD/TF cards are not compatible with ONE X2. But for anyone else who wants to insert an extra level of immersion in their videos, the Insta360 Evo is a user-friendly and competent piece of tech. To consistently achieve the best results with your ONE X2, you should use UHS-I Micro SD cards with a V30 or above speed class and exFAT format, or the shooting may stop and the footage may be damaged by the unmatched storage cards. The Insta360 Evo is a unique offering as there’s probably not many consumers who would actually understand or appreciate videos being shot for VR.
Editing your captured footage is extremely simply through the accompanying app, where you can apply various effects before exporting the video as an mp4 file to upload onto other platforms. The Evo can wirelessly be paired with a headset for instant playback, or can be exported via the app to be viewed on other headsets.īattery life is just shy of an hour, which is enough time to capture plenty of footage on the go. Where the Evo does excel – as intended – is when paired with a VR headset such as Oculus Go, HTC VIVE Focus and Samsung Gear VR. This means that the Evo excels in outdoor, brightly-lit environments, but tends to suffer during low-light scenes or when shooting at night.
While the resolution is impressive, the overall color being captured can be a bit disappointing, solely down to the lenses being used in the Evo.
Objects that come too close to the camera tend to be slightly blurry when viewed later, so it’s all about maintaining a comfortable distance from your subject and keeping things level. Out of the box the stitching was quite off, but once we had properly configured it, videos looked much more seamless.Ĭonveying the 3D aspect of your videos can be a bit tricky to master. The one suggestion we would recommend if you’re shooting in 360-degree mode is to go through the stitching configuration a few times, just to properly orient the camera and get the best results. The 5.7k resolution captures some stunning footage, and stabilization technology is absolutely phenomenal. The app itself offers plenty of shooting options, including HDR.
